Description: Discover the healing power of nature through a virtual forest bathing experience designed specifically for faith community nurses. This session explores how mindful connection with the natural world can foster spiritual comfort, enhance emotional well-being, and support stress relief through practices in the more-than-human world.
Bio: Dr. Liz Diener has been a RN for more than 50 years and currently is core PhD faculty at Walden University. Her long-time interest in the spiritual resources of healing, integrative health and other modalities relates to her interest in faith community nursing. She has training as a Caritas coach at Watson’s Caring Science institute, certified SoulCollage facilitator, and a Level 1 qualification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She completed the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) training and earned a Lifetime certificate in 2023. Her clinical practice includes hospice and palliative care.

1. Describe two principles and potential benefits of forest bathing as a meditative practice for stress reduction and holistic healing.
2. Discuss two approaches for integrating nature-based spiritual practices into faith community nursing ministry.
