Bios:
Rev. Dr. Esther Brown is a nurse leader, career FCN, pastor, nurse faculty, and dean of her denominational seminary who has worked in health care and ministry for over 40 years. She continues practice in the community with FCNs experiencing burnout and regularly provides support and resources for the greater FCN community.
Dr. Kristen Kellogg is a doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner, Director of the Health Promotion Center and full-time faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University. The Health Promotion Center is a free and Charitable clinic in southern California. Her DNP project focused on the health impacts of a free food box and healthy eating education program on patients experiencing food insecurity. She is active in Living Water Church of the Nazarene and volunteers at a street medicine clinic hosted through her church.
Dr. Amanda Thurman is is a doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner at the Health Promotion Center/ at Point Loma Nazarene University and full-time faculty at Azusa Pacific University. Her Doctorate of Nursing Practice studies focused on training healthcare providers to screen for food insecurity in the clinical setting. She is active at Mission Church of the Nazarene in San Diego, CA in leading bible study and mission trips with her husband and 3 adult sons. Her passion is for providing care in underserved populations and teaching and mentoring nursing students.
Dr. Mary Lynne Knighten is a nurse leader with over 37 years of experience in many areas of nursing, including being credentialed as a Faith Community Nurse, with a post-masters certificate in Faith Community Nursing from Azusa Pacific University. She has been the Health Ministry Director at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Eagle Rock for 22 years and Adjunct Faculty at Azusa Pacific University. She serves as President of FCNI and is passionate about translating research and evidence to practice.
